Cruise control and 6th gear

I have a 1998 international 3900 and was curious about a 6 th gear and how to turn the Cruise control back on. As in; is there anyone with the software and such? I'm in delaware at the moment.

if its Navistar I can turn on the cruise control.. i have the software and hardware.. 6th gear is only readily available on an MD-3060 (requires hoops) or a 2006 and newer allison 2000 (unlessyou want to mod the valve body and swap the TCM).

which engine do you have?

Navistar ServiceMaxx J1708 software is free, when you open it up and connect it to your bus.. you go to the 'Parameters" and it will show you what you can change.. some of them have a little help blurb.

I have a call wsith navstar in the AM to see about altering my trans and OSS type and maybe the HP upgrade.. once im off of that I'll know if Ill not need the device right away and can send it your way.

what year and kind of bus do you have? if you look under the hood there is usually a tag on the engine that says '7.6 liter', or on the side of the hood 'T-444E'(on the outside), etc..

the connector is $700.. thats why I share and send it to people to hopefully save them from that pain!

if you have an international, you can take the VIN fro mthe chassis , call an international dealer and they will tell you anything about it.. engine, trans, rear gear ratio, etc. . you can also look for tags on or around the engine that may show what it is..

and you can take your VIN and run it through an online VIN decoder which will give you some info.. usually enough to figure out the engine type.

if the chassis is a ford or freightliner, I know i dont have the scan tools to work on those.. at least not the software.. though the hardware interface will.
