When you have overdrive like a MD3060, fifth gear is .75 to 1. All things being equal, your engine with turn 25% less to turn the drive shaft the same 2000 rpms. What does this mean in the real world? If you were going 55 at 2000 rpm, in overdrive, you would be turning 1500 rpm. Less fuel, less noise, etc.

Thanks Cal, I pretty much new this wasn't a smart bus and fuel mileage was going to suck, and the noise...well it's a 40 foot rattle can. I'll turn the stereo up a little yell at the passengers and split the fuel bill with buddies/brother that I ride with. I was more concerned with failure 'cause it was a piece of $#!t and would eventually leave me stranded.
