Is that a Cummins part number, Frank? I can do some digging.

Cummins parts source

Yep, that is a Cummins part number. My Crown bus has a Cummins 743 cu in NHH vintage 1968. After 1973, the 855 became the new size. The cummins here in my small city of 35K folks get any dollar they want for parts. As ya may guess, my shop is small and do not spend thousands of dollars per month.
I would like to find a reasonable shop or person who has a Cummins parts connection. Any help is appreciated. Frank

Re: Looking for a Cummins parts source

Ok, Frank. I don't think I'm going to be much help. I can get the gaskets for less than $3 a piece, but I have to pay $8 for drop shipping on top of regular freight so obviously that isn't a great option. However, I did stumble across a number that might help you using my super interchange. Carquest should be able to help you out with this part number. I know they have them in Kansas City anyway. It's a Victor Reinz p/n VS38478T and I can get it for less than $13 so I'm sure your cost is close to that. I wish I could help more.

Cummins

Thanks for some info. My local carquest does not have any connection for victor gaskets. Another parts place is gonna do some checking and try to locate same.
I appreciate the part numbers as I had no reference. What is your birth name as it is unusal for me to say hi experience. Yep my name is the one my mom gave me.....Frank

Re: Looking for a Cummins parts source

My mother decided to call me Andrew. I'll keep digging when I have spare moments. What I'm not sure about with that Victor set is how many you need. VS indicates that it's a valvecover set which would make me believe it's three in there, especially given the price, but it would be a real bummer to end up with only one.

Frank, have you considered just getting a roll of gasket material and cutting your own?

Cummins parts source

I have made many gaskets by hand. The gaskets needed are made of cork and very fragile. I may now have found a parts store who will procure the set and ship to me for about $24. Working on old engines is a challenge. Getting a part number was the beginning. I shall make a post when the gaskets are in my possession. I love my town. Frank
