Dred if it is the tappet cover, it's a pretty big job but doable. Might as well pull the rad. and gain access to the front of the engine.
I recently pulled my rad. so I can walk you through that.

alot of things might makes sense for his previous oil leak woes as well... the tappet cover would be under crankcase pressure so if it was marginal back then it wouldve been under higher pressure when the engine was operated hard and possibly cause that gasket to push out..

the leak is SO bad it is as if the tappet cover is missing....
seriously, poured a half gallon in, and it looked as if it was going straight to the ground.
It was enough oil to get the pressure up enough so I could push it down an alley.
I am so disgusted I already checked on rental trucks.
My truck place wont be open till Monday, so maybe I will suck it up and crawl under there tomorrow?
Thanks for the leads

Do I have to pull the radiator, or is that just easier?
I know I have no where near as much room as under the hood of a Dodge.

I think it would be 2 hours well spent to improve access. I replaced the belt and tensioner from the engine side and it was a bitch with the rad. in place. Now that I've removed the rad., I found it's not that bad really.
A few more bolts and the fan is gone making access much easier.

I know it has been rough but try to chill bud. That oil has to be pouring out from somewhere...and the video is at least a bit encouraging as far as a place to look.
Hang in there.

I know that I should try to chill but everything in my bones is telling me to cut and run. Even if I do get the latest oil leak fixed I still have the other oil leaks to deal with and how far can actually get in this rig? My gut is telling me to run, and spend my time energy and money on something less volatile. I'm trying not to react rashly but my situation looks very Bleak right now even with a successful repair of the latest leak?
Besides I have never really been that good at chilling out.
Maybe somebody can talk some sense into me?

Dred: you are in a place that I call the "place of not knowing". In otherwords, you have a problem but you dont really know what it is. And lacking a firm diagnosis, (if you are wired like I am), you just sit there and mentally spin.
Its a bad place to be, but it is temporary. Data is coming. Information is power.
Guys like us tend to be people of action. By our very nature we dont wait very well. And THAT is likely what has you tweaking the hardest.
My suggestion is to do exactly what you are doing. Vent a bit, chill with your virtual friends and just commiserate. Drink constructively! ;) And know that THIS IS PERFECTLY FINE.
Lacking a clear diagnosis as to how bad this really is (or isnt), any decision you may make about the fate of this bus would be an error. After all the blood, sweat and tears you have invested in her, I think you owe it to both of you to delay any decision except for the hardest one of all: "lets wait and see".
So here is to you, Dred. (Raises his glass in sympathy and admiration). May the news be good, and your road be long! Salud!

Btw: Dred, where exactly are you? Maybe there are board members, friends (or friends of friends of board members) nearby with experience, tools or cold beer?

I say give a shot at fixing it.. how do you know that ALL the oil leaks on the things arent related to the one you are dealing with? also sometimes Huge leaks like a gallon a minute are incredibly simple.. like possibly a clamp came off an oil line going to the turbo or something dump like that...
as far as it leaking like a tappet cover missing.. imagine this scenerio..
that gasket is all cracky and nasty.. you pump a hill with heavy duty crankcase pressure and it actually Blows out a section of that gasket..like all the way out so now you have a 1 inch GAP in that gasket.. and il runs down to that gap and is pressureized by engine blowby.. yeah its gonna leak.. and leak bad..
I say investigate a little more.. go for a motorcycle ride.. investigate some more.. you get an oil drain pan so while you are investigating you can recover and pour the oil back in the engine that drains out while you are looking and probing around as it idles... thus you arent wasting gallons of oil just recyling it as you work...
if it ends up beung something crazy like a cracked head or cracked block then you weight in at whether its time to toss in the towel.. but information cant hurt.. something simple could be wrong... but its definitely worth getting greasy and grimy and educated..

Years ago I drove a rear engine Gillig Schoolcoach with a Cummins C-190 in it.
As a regular occurrence I put in 2 quarts of oil every other day because it was a leaker.
One afternoon I was stopped at a stop light after all of my students had gotten off of the bus. A lady came up to my door and told me I was leaking some oil. Since it always did a little bit I didn't think too much about it. But since the next stop after I went through the traffic light would have been at the end of a freeway run I decided to pull through the traffic light and stop and check things out.
Boy was I glad I did!
The gasket between the front cover and the injection pump, an air of high pressure oil, had blown out. I was pumping high pressure oil out in copious quantities. Fortunately I was able to shut things down before I ran out of oil.
It was a lot of business to repair but not very costly.
