in columbus ohio it seems to be... I had an expired license once 20+ years ago and never went to jail.. they did tow the car...

but Most non-violents get released from jail.. esp nowadays with all the heroin crap in the cities...

Our governor is a sick, sad man. I hate him quite roundly.
When I lost my job he was the reason my unemployment benefits were terminated early. Rick Scott can kick rocks. Evil, vulture looking little weasel.

Unemployment is federal. States can go beyond those limits but they can't go under them.

Rick Scott refused federal unemployment money. we get benefits for about half the time you northerners do thanks to that.

For awhile there it was up to a year. I had it for a full 6 months plus a little. Dollar amount is higher too. $406 a week. While on it, I had an interview for 3rd shift in a metal stamping house (loud, dirty, just nasty). When I got back home, I did the math. $13.25 an hour - 45 mile drive gas < unemployment.

I agree. If I don't have auto insurance in FL my license is suspended. If I get pulled over sans license and insurance I go to the pokey.

And PS, I support a single-payer health insurance for all.

As of news yesterday. The IRS will not be requiring folks who submit their taxes to prove they have had insurance. Still the law (for the time being) but totally on honor system to pay the fee.

If your tax weenie doesn't ask you about the status of your insurance, you need a better tax weenie. There is still a code on your W-2 as well. Don't play a lawyer on TV with the IRS.

I was talking about driving on a suspended license not just expired. Punishments post patriot act are much more severe as well...
