I still want a Helix of my own.
I'd even take a deal on a "cosmetically challenged" one.

I'm planning to do a video of it, since the crankshaft replacement requires you to disassemble the whole engine to get to it... My resident weather girl says saturday might not work with the latest news of the storms.

Just bring it indoors and do it on the coffee table. She won't mind.

There were bits of bearing in there, it's 100% frozen tight. I assume it was oil starved at some point in it's life and it just caught up with it. The old oil pump looked good but I didn't bother testing it since I was replacing it anyway.

The engine is back together and mostly installed, enough to have it running again. Should be riding today. I won't do that job outdoors in the Florida sun again.

EZ UP. A couple minute set up and shade is yours.

Hope you are up and running..

Yeah, hows it running?
Quadruple check for intake leaks and carb tuning. They're notoriously lean. Honda's scooter intakes are known to be one of their weak links. I've had to pull and reseal a CH80 intake a half dozen times and that was using all oem parts.

Running pretty good, still assembling it all. It's already toasty so only doing a little bit at a time. The old intake was torn almost in half. I did use a pop up canopy for a while but the sun moved around until it didn't help.

[QUOTE=Tango;290691]Just bring it indoors and do it on the coffee table. She won't mind.[/Q

I tried that back in the day and my personal experience was she did mind.
Even when I offered to show her how easy the oil wiped off the linoleum...

I still bomb around on my 50 plus year old Powell Challenger but we are both sold on our new electric bikes. Easy to pedal and I rode mine 12 miles the other day and came back with 5 bars on the battery It seems use of the battery is to get through an intersection or up a hill. The cool thing on thes Elux Sierra is they fold in half and the handlebars fold to . We put 2 of them in the back seat of our Toyota Avalon. Still have a soft spot for my long ago stolen Honda 70.

Mostly success today. I am running a bit late, I need to get a can of carb cleaner to spray around my intake and check for leakage. I could feel it falling flat at higher speeds. 55 was fine but it wasn't feeling 60, that's new.

Did you replace the piston and rings?

No they looked to be in pretty good shape. Some carbon on the Piston head but otherwise in great shape. If I need to replace them in the future I know I can do the job in about an hour with the motor still in the frame!

I need mine fixed. Nick used it when I was out of town over the summer and ran it out of gas and now battery dead.

Went out for a cruise on my silver Tomos this morning.
I love how simple these lil mopeds are. Some fresh gas and they're happy to go wherever whenever.
