12V Deep Cycle Batteries

Any one ever hear of these batteries? Can I use them in a power plant for my bus?

US Battery US185XC 12 Volt 200Ah Deep Cycle Sweeper Battery

It says sweeper battery. But does that matter?

Re: 12V Deep Cycle Batteries

I can't imagine why they wouldn't work as house batteries. Probably wouldn't hurt to give the manufacturer a call.

Don't know about those but according to "Handybob" the best house batteries are Crown. Probably the best fit for a RV are the CR-260 6-volt batteries, a set of 4 in series/parallel to make a 12 volt circuit.

Re: 12V Deep Cycle Batteries

Us battery has been improving their design for the last few years. Some off grid homes are using them. I have not used them , but do use the Crown L-16 430 ah batteries for my home and will use them in my bus when the time comes. I have not heard any complaints from those who use them.

Re: 12V Deep Cycle Batteries

Sweeper battery's are close to the same physical makeup as a deep cycle alternative energy battery.

Large lead plates that allow a medium to moderately high drain over a few hour period of time to 80% discharge with no damage.

For reference, Automotive battery's have thin lead plates that allow a short, high current draw, without draining more than 10% discharge before being recharged right away by the alternator when the vehicle starts.

Best way to kill almost any battery of any chemistry is to drain it completely and freeze it.

Re: 12V Deep Cycle Batteries

Around here US Batteries seem to be one of the best prices for the Ah. I was talking to one of the guys at Batteries Expert in town and he had nothing but good things to say about them for use with a solar system. I'll probably end up with 2 or 3 of the US 12v XC2's since they're the best fit for my battery bay (my electrical demands are low).
