Hola seniores.I got issue with starter keep cranking about 30 sec even after i turn key off.but other issue is terminals on first battery melted lil bit, negative one looks like melted cheese ,i didnt tighten them just hooked up tried to start few times.it was sitting for couple weeks with key left on position(forgot to turn off when it became chilly) charged each of them couple days, idk where do i look? as google say ,should clean up corrosion and tighten first.if doesnt help theres bunch of advices but i though might ask you guys first.i gutted alot of wires ,all of them were traced before disconnecting.idk what it could be.i only changed coolant.

"My truck did the same thing short while after I purchased it. After checking the fuel system over and over for leaks and swapping Vp44s I still had the hard start issue. Then one day I had the truck running, popped the hood and noticed a really slow drip at cylinder 5 fuel line. Ended up being the cross over tube o-ring had a small nick in it. Changed all 6 at the time and the hard start went away".
i have this leak aswell, idk how i got it.but it sprays alot of fuel of that line when idling,i admit when was changing coolant.it might be culprit.besides that i took off batteries and box all rusted inside.

I'm guessing you have the 24v 5.9L with that inj pump.- same as me.

I changed-out all my fuel line- used 2 wire hydraulic line and relocated the fuel pump to the back by the tank. I upgraded to AirDog (R3SBD100) Raptor Lift Pump.

She starts first bump every time now. Those VP44 are fussy about fuel pressure - 18 psi WOT.

I don't like that trans you showed- it's got more than 38K mi- there is no PTO- i see the plate. Might as well upgrade now.

I love that knuckle boom-looks thirsty. I'd be interested in one for my 5-ton cargo if you know where any more are.

is this lying about 8k miles too ? it does have pto as i see
ive been using multi city craigslist(searchtempest) terms: by owner only,my zip, 1500 miles around me , "knuckle boom" "crane" "palfinger" "hiab" ,i believe i spent more than month, there were different but not too many.now i should buy pump for grand, also tank, hoses and pto to power it
i guess i will tighten that fuel line, clean batteries and take a look again.does your bus starts in cold?mine needed to be plugged.

That one looks better suited for what you want. It looks legit on my tiny screen.

Bigger trans may want a crossmember to support- is your already so equipped? May need adapter, too. Smarter people than I will chime in....

I have a 24v 5.9L mated to a md3060 and it works great. There are different generations when getting the ECM, harness and keypad. It gets a bit complicated when they go electronic.

ECM's have parameters tailored to the vehicle, engine, weight, weather...

Here is transit link that talks more about the b400r, but touches on generations to give you an idea. Site has great info.

Allison WTEC III & Gen 4 / 5 Hardware Differences - BusTekHub

There are places that program and unlock 6th on the md3060 TCM.

I can get you hella deal on rebuilt b400r, if interested, and you are not far.

The b400r has no pto nor integrated cooler option. I can't install- have my own projects I'm behind on...

Just a thought.
Why not use a pony motor to run the hydraulics for the boom.
That way if you have a problem with it you can always start the bus and drive it wherever to work on it.
And it doesn't rack up the hours on the motor and tranny.
You have a good idea and plan.
Were you able to get outriggers as well?
The battery melting issue sounds to me like you have the batteries wired for 24v instead of 12v assuming you have two batteries. Tight and clean connections are always top priority.
The fuel leak is a factor in the no start issue but if your batteries are wired wrong then you could have blown some fuses or the computer has some things shut down because of over voltage or under voltage.
I don't know if your vehicle is 12v and maybe you reconnected the batteries where it is 24v right now or you wired for 12v and need 24v.
When trying to start you should almost never go past 15-20 seconds max or you will kill your starter and batteries from the heat and after 15-20 you need to give the starter a chance to cool off before you try again.
Fix the fuel leak and use the hand pump or an auxiliary pump to bleed the injectors and check your battery wiring sequence.
Good luck

as owner said everything but pump and tank.crane does need 12-16gpm ~4000-4500 psi
or ~40hp ~150-200 Nm , biggest reasonable i found in harbor freight 22hp for 600 bucks
briggs 35hp goes mroe than 2 grand i believe and this makes me think either buy wreckd car for 500 bucks and put on chassis engine with cooler etc or buy used mt643 , md3060 with pto gear.didnt decided yet.
i have 3 batteries, but i believe 3rd was for wheelchair they were bridged but i didnt memorised when i took em off ,theres bunch of wires on each of 6 terminals so i just connected 2 batteries with + - but there were couple more.i dont know i will trace it once i tear body apart.
i will tighten fuel line. but as school guys told me its been always hard to start when its cold.

As a diesel tech: 1) use the hand pump to bleed the injection pump case should be a ten mm head screw with a flat on the threads near the top of the pump case. 2) break loose all the injector lines at the nozzles 3) hold throttle wide open and crank the engine till the lines start spitting fuel at the loosened nuts. 4) tighten the lines then crank it again. It should fire and run. If it does, crack each line for a few seconds one at a time this will finish bleeding and ensure all cyls. are firing. This concludes bleeding 101.[emoji16]
