Re: generator location
I built a new back bumper that houses the propane tanks and generator. The gen side swings out to remove the genset for service and can move away from the bus if noise becomes a factor. Will have a "dog house" cover with deadening that removes and can be placed over the gen when its away from the bus. (4500 watt unit)

Re: generator location
Looks like it is going on a small trailer behind me. We have a small one we carry in a bay. Summertime we will need the one behind the trailer though. Thats going to be our cheapest option.

Re: generator location
I'm leaning toward putting mine just ahead of the rear axle on the left side. Of course, I don't have one yet.
On a pusher, you could put it right behind the front bumper...many high-end motorhomes have them there.

Re: generator location
We're moving the engine and house batteries to under the Drivers seat(have access door but no bin there), It will hold three 12V batteries. So, 1 starter battery and 2 deep cycle marine/RV batteries (we use a single deep cycle on the RV so we know it works). The existing battery boxes (2) will become a place to hold the generator fuel tank and box next to it will hold the generator itself. Means we have to break down a portable generator setup into it's separate components.

Re: generator location
I read on here it is bad to have the batteries in the cabin area because of fumes, so I dont think I can do that

If you are talking about the location of our batteries... the access door is OUTSIDE under the drivers window and seat. There is no bin, no sides, no floor. Looks like a great place for batteries.

My understanding is that if you have sealed maintenance free batteries, they do not off-gas and are therefore okay to have in the cabin area. I will put my regular maintenance batteries (which do off-gas) in the back inside corner of the bus in a sealed cabinet with a vent going to the outside and a fan to help vent the gases especially when charging.

Re: generator location
didnt know they were sealed. I am going with golf cart batteries, 6v joined together, and they have to be vented. Generator is going on the back deck. It will make things alot easier.Save me some money also, getting short on that.

Re: generator location
My intention...eventually, is to relocate the bi-fold door a few windows back, like some have already done. I think that I'll use the space where the steps were to house my genny (when I get one, of course). I think that maybe someone already did that, or did something similar...doubt I'm the first to think of it!
