Generator Mounting

A friend of mine is converting a Thomas long nose with 444T into a rescue dog transporter. He wants to run 2 13.5K a/c's and maybe some lights. He has bought a 12K generator to power the bus. Dimensions are 40x30x23.

Does anyone have any ideas on how or where to mount the generator? He would like to leave the rear access door unblocked if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Under the bus? Cut the skirt and fab a box( ventilated) to hold it.

That has been my first thought. Going to be a bear drilling that frame though.

No need. Hang the box from the ribs that support the floor.

Yeah for Dog Rescuing!

You can get a welder to put something under there relatively cheap. I was going to have one mounted on the in the back and add a vent to the side panel - I was also going to add a spot for another set of batteries to be mounted under the bus - there is ample room.

Mine is same Coachbuilder as Turf- It is a heavy angle iron frame mounted directly to the frame- utilizes many existing holes.

The generator cage then has rollers that allow the genset to slide-out on c-channel for maintenance. Very slick system. Mounted directly in front of rear wheel to keep weight back.
