Honda EU3000is low power. Fixed?

I had a storage bumper built for my bus and mounted my Honda genny on top. The bumper box wasn't properly welded up and it bent the bus frame ears so it started drooping on my way from Ohio to Colorado. I stop into Home Depot in Denver and rigged up straps to help hold it up, but never could get her back level.

Everywhere I looked a 2000W genny should be able to start my AC. I could barely get it to start with my 3000W! No way could I use eco mode. Dang generator would just shut off.

Fast forward a year and I got my sagging rear end fixed and an i-beam all welded up in there.

Here is the shocking part. Now my generator can start everything from eco mode! I only tested it twice last night, but that is two more times than it could ever do in the past. Could the tilt have caused a loss of power? I don't know enough about carbs. Does being 15 degrees off kilter enough to mess up fuel flow and create a severe loss of power? Doe it have to be something else?

Nick

If it works, don't fix it!
Honda makes some finely engineered products, and I'll bet you cashy money they designed it to work on the level. So to speak...
It sounds like that 15° tilt affected the carb's float, starving the motor when it tried spooling up to meet load demands.
BTW, I really like the idea of a bumper storage box! I'd love to see some spex &/or pix on/of it, please.

My father-in-law who owned a fab shop most of his adult life built me this. The sides are drawers that I bought 500lb slides for. The back / center is a hatch.

That's deeper than I envisioned for my purposes, hauling a toad as I do. But what a beautiful piece of work!
I like the hinged center compartment, and the doors on either end.
Oh, and in the second foto, I can see why the genny wouldn't work. It's upside down...
Thanx for posting the pix, and giving me yet another modification I'd like, but lack the skills to bring to reality!
