this is the oldest battery conundrum, hashed out both ways many times.

pay a little more for agm or a lot more for lithium. problem solved.

no poisonous gases, no explosions, no corrosion

So the number 1 reason at this point is that I already purchased the batteries.

But if we go back to my research, I roughly estimated agm to be 2x the cost and lithium to be 3x the cost out of the box. From my understanding AGM still have to be vented and you have potential for acid leak just like flooded.

To be honest, think i would do it again until a few years down the road when i can $$ a better option. (who even knows that that will be then)

Now find the data on how long each battery will last through how many cycles and then compare the cost of replacing them through out the life of a LIPO battery, seems the LIPO are a better value over the long run, it just hurts up front.

frequently - the most expensive things i own are the cheapest things i buy. my bus is a clear example of that.

nothing wrong with fla. i think there is an argument that it may be cheapest in the practical life span. i put my fla battery bank into service in 2011. if i had to replace tomorrow and then evry 8 years. i'd still get 24 years of service before i approach the cost of the lithium.

Yes FLA is longer lasting than sealed, less finicky more robust, much lower cost $ per Ah / year.

LFP so stratospherically more upfront, very high risk ROI over decades will not be realized.

Different market conditions maybe less so than the US.

But IMO only go with sealed like AGM if reasons are compelling.

I've had a solar powered home for about 22 years and will continue with FLA batteries until the price point for other technologies becomes reasonable.

The main 24 volt forklift battery is 20+ years old (1200 AH) and is just now starting to show it's age. The secondary T105 12 volt battery bank is 8 years old and shows no signs of quitting.

I'm not opposed to newer storage facilities, but cannot justify the initial cost to implement.
