Intelligent charge/autostart controllers?

Startimg to plan out my conversion and am hoping there is a programable controller that can charge from solar, use alternator if available, and autostart the generator if the load is greater then x threshold or the battery falls below y percent.
Does such an animal exist or do I need to learn how to build one?

Quick answer: There are several auto-gen start modules for various inverters or stand alone type.
Alternator: you would use a battery isolator to avoid draining your main battery, some alternators have terminals for ACC items, use these.
Otherwise, Xantrax, MagnaSine and other high end model inverers have these capabilities built in, especially the load switching from shore/ alteranator to battery.

Yes, these exist. I think the keyword you want is "automatic transfer switch". Hope that helps.
