Maybe the US border agents at any of the Mexico crossings would have some ideas - they've found illicit things in the most imaginative of places. Inside vehicle fuel tanks, inside tires, double-skinned car floors, etc etc: human ingenuity knows no bounds when money's involved. Or get some CD (Corps Diplomatique) plates for the bus, then claim diplomatic immunity if anyone stops you - it's easy to invent some little-known African republic for which you are their Chargé d'Affaires or Military Attaché or whatever.
