Removing headlight switch?

My headlight switch is loose and flopping around in it's dash position. Was that way when i bought the bus. The seller told me that the headlights flicker off and on. They replaced the dimmer switch. Am i wrong to think that the switch must mount tightly so as to ground. You can turn and turn either way and it never releases or tightens up.How do i remove it?

If it's like mine, there is a button on the housing behind the dash. Took a little while to find it. Push that and the switch plunger comes right out. It took a little bit of coaxing and holding my tongue right.

Pretty much every switch that has a pull knob made since the 50s has a release like this on the switch behind the dash. Take all of your jewelry off and feel around for a button that looks something like this.

push it and the knob will come out. Then turn the chrome bezel. Be aware that this will also turn on the lights. I guess I should have told you to unhook the battery. I never do but I have done this a few thousand times.

All you have to do is push the knob back in and it will catch.

Some are removed this way some not. If no button on the back try pulling out (Giggity), twisting the knob & remove it.

Put in a new switch and still no headlights. When i pulled out the switch rod to turn on headlights i would get a head light flicker but not now. I guess it is ime o start checking grounds.

Did you ever find a solution to your problem? It seems I’m having the same issue in a 93 International
