Reverse lights during inspection

Hey all.

I took my Int. 3800 in for VT state inspection yesterday, and all was well except for back up lights. I pulled the covers and both bulbs were cracked. After cleaning the sockets, new bulbs came right on...even with the bus turned off. So I've now got reverse lighting...all the time. Any ideas on where to start looking to fix this issue?
Thanks

check the back up light switch, not sure if it is on the transmission or the shift lever

Thanks Kubla.

I disconnected the reverse switch lead (driver's side of transmission), but the reverse lights still stay on.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Well now you've got me scared - my backup lights aren't working, but I think that's preferable to backup lights that are always on.

In the electric box there's a schematic, follow it to the reverse light fuse, and then trace that wire back. Use your mulitmeter to check for power. Its coming from somewhere. You need to find that source. My guess is a stuck relay.
