Solar Connection
So I have a red and black lead to go to the charge controller. I notice the short leads are a different wire than the others. How do I make the leads longer without soldering more wire on?

Don't solder anything, crimp, those are standard MC4 connections.
Throw the stub away and crimp new MC4s on the end of the required length you measure what you need.

I need a bare end to go into the CC. One set had long wires, so I cut the connectors off and fed them through the gland and the roof.

I would recommend some chafing protection for the conductors at the roof penetration.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. You mean something like this chafe preventer? The grommet will get sealed when I seal the gland down.

What size wires are those? You could crimp ring terminals on, use SS nut and bolts with blue Loctite and then rubber tape wrapped and covered then by a tight electrical wrap tape. This would allow you to remove the panel or the wire if need be.

They are 10g. Again, you are making something quite easy very complicated. Why not do what I've already done, and then strip 1/4 off the end and secure in the CC the proper way? The panels unplug for removal.

Maybe it's the way you present your questions? Did not know they unplugged.
Half the time I haven't got a clue for what you are doing as in posting the gland picture in the threes for the minisplit. Get with it!

They don't plug into the CC.
I'm confused? I posted the gland pic here in the Solar Connection thread. Where are the Mini-Split pics?
