What is this locked box??

I wasn't sure where to post this, but it has wires running to it.. so here goes..

I have this locked box connected to the floor of my skoolie. Not sure what it is. Anybody know? I don't t want to go tearing it out Willy nilly. I do not have the keys for it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank in advance!

I believe that was where the bus vcr was stored. Most of us have gotten willy nilly with those wires.

Mine still had cameras but no VCR. I was cutting the wires and I did hear a clunk in the dashboard, but there shouldn't be any video related stuff in the dash. I test started after removing the wires just in case I had to deal with the interlock.

I assume it has this inside. I just took these pictures today actually. I'm curious of the quality and what others did with theirs. Obviously a VCR recorder isn't worth anything, but perhaps the camera can be hooked up to a different DVR of some sort. I plan on installing a few cameras on the bus anyway, so I'll use this box for the new system.

Looks like a standard low-grade lock. You can probably open it with a lock jiggler tool.. something like a pumpkin carver or a piece of sheet metal formed on your own with tin snips. It's probably worth a try; it may actually be faster to jiggle it open than to drill. Once it's open you can access fasteners inside the box, remove the lock and replace with one you have keys for, etc.

That's where the driver put his pistol and drugs. Just so the students couldn't get to it. How thoughtful they were.
