Wiring Distances

I have a garage in the rear of my 40ft bus that I plan to have all the electrical. I will likely need to run the generator in front of the wheel wells in a compartment because to their size is about 6 inches lower than the skirting. I will likely place the shore power in the same area and run them to a transfer switch.

1. What is the recommended maximum distance from the transfer switch to the breaker box?

Any help with any distances including solar and inverter and charge controller, etc. would be helpful

Thanks

Your AC wire runs won't have a problem with voltage drop in a bus so transfer switch to breaker box distance isn't an issue. The DC wiring does experience voltage drop over bus length runs so check the link below for the correct wire size for the load and the length of the run.

In particular, your inverter should be as close to the battery bank as possible with a nice fat cable. It never hurts to oversize your DC wires but undersizing them can result in the release of the Magic Black Smoke, and possibly some phoning and fleeing.

Blue Sea app "Circuit Wizard" exposes all the variables involved.
