I bought a surge tank from an RV supply, it's about the size of a large potato and does a good job. If you buy one for a shallow well pump it might be too large, I'm not sure. I would reccommend using one or the pump will cycle all the time and burn up. Also the RV style surge tank has pipe threads which I screwed right to my pump and then a fitting to run PEX tubing on the other side which I also reccommend using. I also got a sediment bowl/screen type filter to keep unwanted uglies out of my water supply and pump. Don't forget to drain all this when winter comes or it will all freeze. sportyrick
