City water hookup and fresh water inlet

Do I really need city water hookup? Do I just make sure I fill-up my fresh water through the water inlet? Thanks a lot.

i always put in both. make it like a regular rv with either use by direct hook up to water faucet, or tank with pump. also put inlet on correct side of bus.
and if you are like me, you install two pumps (one for backup) and two types of water heaters...
is bit extra plumbing, but over the years i have found the bit of extra work is worth the redundancy

Definitely do not need it. You can rely on your tank and pump/gravity. I built a trailer that way, but regretted later not having a city hookup with its pressure and added it afterwards. I didn't want to hear my 12v pump running everytime I turned a faucet, especially if someone was asleep.

It also saves on wear and tear on the 12v pump.
