New DC only Air conditioners

Looks like Sharp is going to be releasing some new dc only air conditioners aimed at the solar market.

They would work fantastic in mobile vehicles with a dc power system too. It seems that the longer I wait (by way of not having enough budget for things yet) the more things become available/affordable.

Appears to be a mini-split configuration. Interesting indeed.

That's a great find. A little part of me cringes to think what they'll cost, since they may be viewed as kind of a boutique/niche product. Hopefully that won't be the case. Honestly with the variable-speed inverter drive options already available, it doesn't seem like a long stretch to take DC input to the inverter rather than AC. That Japanese PV trade show sounds like a fascinating thing to see.

This one from Sunshine Works is around $3,450 which is rather pricey, but that looks to be pretty turnkey including solar panels and roof (home) mounting brackets. I suspect the price will slowly drift downward over time.
