Removing the rear heater

When I remove (or temporarily disable) the rear heater, can I just cap the coolant lines so no coolant is flowing to the back of the bus?

Or do I need to hook them back together so the coolant can flow from the engine out one pipe and back into the engine through the other pipe?

If you are removing all of the heaters you can block them off, if keeping front heat/defrost you need a loop.

The heaters run on a loop.
If you remove the rear heater, just bypass it at the mid heater and close the loop.
As far as avoiding a mess, I parked at an angle and cut the lines preventing leakages or spills.
I helped a friend remove the rear heater and he just temp clamped the hoses and reattached to complete the loop at the mid ship heater.
