Spray Insulation Kits

Does anyone know of any nationwide retailers where you can grab a spray insulation kit off the shelf (or if anyone knows a local retailer in NJ)? It looks like Home Depot will do ship-to-store, but don't appear to stock them. Lowe's doesn't even allow online shopping of their spray foam kits. Tiger Foam charges $130.00 for shipping, so I'd like to consider other options.

Menards?

In cold climates, local hardware stores?

Call Dow and ask for a local stockist?

I found a foam kit on Ebay for 598 shipped free. Touch n Seal U2-600 closed foam insulation kit. 600 board feet with all the hoses and tips.

Wow! That's substantially cheaper than the kits go for at Lowe's and elsewhere! I appreciate your help!

Im thinking of spraying the underside of the floor by the engine to help manage the noise from my front engine flat nose bus, they sell a 200 board foot kit for 300.

None of the motor is under the floor, will insulating yield any benefits? The noise mostly come through the engine cover. It may not be wise to insulate the engine compartment any more than what's there.

I think I should clarify, I wont be spraying the foam directly by the engine. But to absorb road noise, tire noise, exhaust noise, turbo noise, I will be spraying the underside of the floor but not close to the hot parts. I'm thinking of using the spray foam on top of the engine cover in the passenger compartment then build a cabinet of sorts on the engine cover to absorb some more noise with out the heat issue.

Then there is the back side of the entry stairs, perhaps there is a way to insulate this sheet metal. I stood in a skoolie recently just after they stopped and could feel loads of heat coming through the stairs.

I've driven some rear engine buses and they are so quiet as are the large coaches. I've heard of front engine buses being load and hot, just trying to mitigate that possibility.

Dude, the thread is about spray foam, why do you keep throwing in things that aren't wanted.
Just put a 25k BTU AC in the engine bay.

That is a good idea, I will look into the cost for the engine cover, stairs, and under the drivers seat.

Having researched DynaMat years ago and seeing reviews, it seems the biggest advantage DynaMat has is it will kill the "tin can" sound of the empty shell, but does little to reduce engine or road noise. It is not cheap stuff either.

Do a Google search of "Is DynaMat effective?" and read all the reviews from people who have used. See the very small ratio of those who justify the expense compared to those who say it is not effective at all.

The big kits cover 600bf for $500-$750+
This kit would run you $1050 for 600bf.

Yes definitely a smaller kit. Buying locally would save quite a bit of shipping.

Is the only issue time frame? You're asking for off the shelf product you can get at Home Depot/Lowes. HD/Lowes will get it in store faster than you could probably order it on line.

Best sound killer around is...sheet lead. Mass. Used it in my old BBAA that had DD 6v53. Actually got a big (HEAVY) roll from the local city bus yard for like $10 bucks. Must have been a hundred feet of the stuff. Had been sitting there for quite a while. Used about half of it then wound up giving the rest of the roll away to another bus builder.

Something tells me the Kaliphornia Bus Police would probably NOT approve.

But it worked.
