Bonjour!

Hey everybody.

I'm just getting into this scene, and really impressed with how many knowledgeable and passionate people are around these parts.

My little family (me, my partner, and our little 3 month old) are interested in figuring out how and where to buy. What are the best "getting started shopping" guides?

Bonjour mon ami --- begin by reading as many of the "build threads" as possible. By seeing what others bought/done/built/gone through, you will begin to get a picture of what will best fit your personal dreams.

Welcome.

I love hearing about little ones getting the chance to live in such a cozy small setting.

As Tango said, the build threads are where the info is at. I personally read every build thread posted to this site. Not a single one is a bad read.

Even the ones that never get completed hold good info.

Nat

Start shopping for land.

Hmm?

To have space to do the conversion and such?

We're thinking about doing it in Michigan, but of course we're concerned about the salt damage if we buy a cheese top from that neck of the woods. We have some space on which we can do the build.

I just say buy some land because in my years of trying to convert buses the one constant I've seen is HASSLE about the bus being wherever it is parked.
Its out on acreage in the country right now on a buddy's lot... But even out there my bus is somehow ruffling some feathers.
Owning a chunk of land outside of town is the best thing for owning a bus, imo.
Just throwing that out there... That somewhere to legally keep a bus permanently is ideal if planning ahead as you are.
