I'm in the throes of a divorce. One of the things that kept me going was that if things got bad enough I could always just pull money out of my retirement, buy a bus and leave.
I just bought a bus and my plan is to live in it for the indefinite future.
"Plan B" is a 2005 12 Window Thomas Saf-T-Liner HDX RE with 99k miles on her. I'll be paying for her tomorrow and when I get the title I'll be heading to Vermont (2 hours away) and register as a motorhome. Then it's a matter of lining up insurance and heading to NJ to pick her up.
Question:
I'll have the registration and title as a motorhome, but she hasn't been converted yet. Any tips on insurance? I'll have a non-converted motorhome.
I'd rather not get pre-conversion insurance if I don't have to.
A long time ago I used to be a mechanical engineer. Most recently I completed a Deep Energy Retrofit on her house and have all the tools that go with that. In between I've played with the circus (stilt dancing and fire performing), gone to Burning Man several times (but not in the last 10 years), and like to think I've got a creative streak.
I'll spend the next couple months fixing up the bus here or at a friends house then heading to the midwest to visit family. Then head south when it gets cold.
I've gotten a lot of ideas I'd have never dreamed of and will follow up someplace on this forum with them and my progress.
