Considering using bus to move from Alaska

Hello! My family is considering moving out of Alaska, and when weighing our options, I'm leaning towards getting a bus and setting up the back half to haul all the crap we are using with us. We'd keep a few seats in front for the kids, and probably put our king bed behind them for sleeping in the road. We'd be towing once vehicle behind. Once settled in at our new home, we'd then be able to start converting the bus into a proper skoolie.
Is this just a dumb plan? Rough estimates of a uhaul are around $4k if we had to the east cost, and we'd have to drive another vehicle, pay for lodging, and get the trip done in a certain time frame. There are a few school buses for sale for around $4k locally.

That's been done numerous times. It works well and you can often get at least a portion of your money back if you decide to sell the bus. The only problem I see is that east coast buses tend to sell pretty cheap.

I'd be cautious about having to much weight in the back of the bus since it might drive a little funny.

If you do convert it you'll be starting on a platform that you already trust, after a trip like that.

Good luck.
