It's now an RV!

Printed out my 3 day transport permit and did the DOT inspection in Tucson yesterday. Very painless. The officer (gun carrying badge wearing cop) was actually a great guy. He was super friendly. When we told him we plan to travel around the country doing contract work as nurses and live in it he thought that was awesome and excited for us. He walked through and asked our intentions. He looked over the electrical system and water system. We had 6 gal jugs for fresh and grey with a 12v submersion pump to sink and drain straight into the other. He wanted to see an outside fill for the system, but we had enough of the other requirements he passed us. He explained that the reason they want a permanent (stressed permanent) interior is because many people in the past has thrown in temporary type set ups, paid RV registration, got RV insurance because it's so much cheaper and then turned it into a party bus or used as a commercial work vehicle and that caused problems when something went wrong and it became time for liability. It's nice to hear the explanation on why I have to hoop jump, it really helps to understand. Overall painless process. Breakfast, smog test, pay and get plates, back home in time for a late morning nap! Way to go Arizona. California DMV take lesson!

Next thread will be the build

Great news!

I miss my AZ drivers license..... WA is expensive and a hassle.

IIRC: I paid $14 for my AZ license and it didn't expire until 2029...

The TC1000 was a great little bus but everything about it was built lighter duty than any of the other BB's of the same vintage.

The frame was not as stout. The engines tended to be low HP versions of the Cummins 6BT or Cat 3126 and almost all had the AT540 transmission.

I have seen more with juice brakes than with air brakes.

Set up like you have it, especially if you keep your build weight down, you should be able to average 10+ MPG with it.

Good Luck and Happy Trails to you!

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for is the 10+ range. Do you know how they perform with the ballasts removed from under the back? From what I hear that alone is almost 1500lbs. And you are correct, 5.9, 545 behind it and hydraulic.
