Got a bus, now the work begins.

Hello everyone,

I just picked up 1999 Bluebird conventional bus, GMC B7 chassis with a Cat 3126 engine with less than 120K miles, I think it is in good shape but of course I won't know until I start the conversion. I'm in West central Illinois and formerly a single father, but as of last summer I have the empty next thing going. I'm hoping this project keeps me out of trouble. I look forward to this adventure.

Welcome! Do you know what flavor of Allison tranny is in it? Hopefully something other than the 545. Was this a local bus? Any big rust issues?

The transmission is an AT545. It was a local purchase, previously it belonged to a school district in the Peoria area. There is some rust but not as much as I expected from a 20 year old bus surviving in Illinois winters. I do believe however that the entrance steps have too much rust and I will have to rebuild them.
