Hello

Just wanted to say hello. I have joined this forum seeking help and information. We have two buses one is a 1981 bluebird and a 1959 international. We are currently planning on redoing the 59’ in hopes of pulling my dragcar and ultimately making a nice conversion for the family.

you have projects ahead of you!

but I would really like to be a neighbor, think of all the "bus" derived trouble that we could get into.

does the international have a bullet butt?

See if the rims from the bluebird will fit the 59. Bet they will. If so then you know what to get.

Man that 59 is sweet! Totally to a wheel upgrade. Does it run?

Honestly I have never tried to start it yet. The engine looks to be in great shape. It ran when my wife bought it.

The '59 has a Superior bus body on it. When that bus was new it was one of the better bodies made.

I don't think IHC offered a V-8 normally in a bus of that size. I think 1960 was the first year for the SV V-8's so the only V-8 available in 1959 would have been an LV and that was not normally available in that size chassis.

IHC did offer several I-6 engines in various sizes. If your bus has a dog house under the dash you might have one of the RD I-6 with sizes available up to the RD-501.

Most parts to get things running and stopping are still available for your IHC. It just requires some creativity and a parts man who knows how to look in the books under the counter and not just in the computer to find the parts.

Many of the older parts have yet to be put into the computer data base. Low volume parts take a long time to get put into the computer data base.

I gave up on our local dealer a long time ago, they just were not interested in talking the time to find stuff. If you have a dealer that will work with you great. Certainly worth a try.

Oddly they've never once had a part I was looking for.
Friendly folks though.
