Hello From 4000 Miles away! United Kingdom :)

Hello.

Just wanted to say hello win behalf of me and my cousin.
Shaun and stefan.

We have just purchased a 1983 international Wayne Which was imported to the U.K from the U.S.A on behalf of the U.S Navy.

From what we are told the bus was used to shuttle British and American sailors around ‘plymouth’ naval base during the 80s-90s.

It was only 2 right hand drive models ever made of this model specifically for the U.K (as we drive on the right/wrong side of the road!)
However may be wrong!

The bus has covered 80k miles and has undergone 2 colour changes since then. Red being it’s original colour I think? It’s currently slime green!

Anyway, we are hoping to restore and convert it to a mobile cocktail bus/Skokie with a sleeping quarters.

The future being to tour the U.K going to various festivals etc

We hope to get fully involved with a restoration post from beginning to end, any help and advice along the way will be greatly received!

We have family in Glasgow. I'd avoid that area touring the UK, though! lol

We're hoping to have our bus done in time for the Highlands festival in North Carolina this summer.

Post some pics of the RHD bus when you can, we'd all love to see that!

Welcome! Sounds like a rare and interesting find. Also sounds like a fun plan. Park near a pub, enjoy a festival...come back and drink a few more pints...take a nap.

I understand intoxicated driving can get quite expensive "over there".

Lucky for us the previous owners have done the bulk of the work already.

Wood clad and insulation
6 speakers 450w amp
Led interior lighting
2 leisure batteries and 1500w inverter





Already run into a issue with the steering gearbox of which i will be making a post on now, if anyone has any suggestions!

Talk about taking the fun out of it. Insulation and interior already done? No rivets, no bleeding knuckles? That doesn't leave much room for the regret and backpeddling.

Nice score. It does look awfully strange without that right side entry door.

Haha i know, kind of snapped at the chance to get this one, although we will be massively improving the insides, i have heard how much work was involvled in whats been achieved so far.
