Hello from Brooklyn! 2003 Ford E-450 Shorty

Greetings all. I am a former longtime lurker on this site, but at long last, Darling Husband and I have bought our bus! 2003 Ford E-450 Super Duty Girardin Minibus from a fantastic dealer upstate, where it will be staying temporarily while we complete the magical Vermont mail-in registration and get it re-titled as a motorhome. I'm really so pumped, because this baby was only retired the day previous, has new tires/exhaust, and we received the full mechanical records from the previous owners. All for $3500! Can't wait to see her again in a few weeks once we (hopefully) have the plates and Vermont title.

The plan is to create a full time rolling home for our couple, our two big rescue dogs, and some extra friends/hitchers along the way. We'd love to leave Brooklyn and roam the country and the American-continent once the bus is completed and we can transition our jobs to remote or alternative means. Aiming for November 2017!

Anyways, here's some photos... more to come...

Welcome aboard!
Good lookin' bus!

My final bus payment will be November 2017...
Per the owner financing contract I drew up, I added a stipulation in there that I won't make any "permanent changes" until I have lien removed...

So, I've just been making minor changes to get by for full time living. There's nothing that feels as good as achieving goals

Welcome!

Where do you work on a bus in Brooklyn in the winter?!

If it is the Powerstroke 7.3, put together a little kit now with that big fuse for the fuel pump/filter heater (30amp Maxi-fuse, i think off the top of my head), a cam position sensor, and keep the engine oil full and carry some extra, and you'll be well covered for the trip back!

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement! @warewolff and @catriguez, we'll be doing some work on Flatbush avenue, thanks to the free/numerous parking, the rest in suburbia/Rockland county, near the NJ border. Temperature keeps going all over the place, but at least we'll have a better idea about how much insulation is necessary.

Would love to meet up with others in the area once things start moving forward!

Congrats! Also in Brooklyn and trying to figure out where to do my build so that it's close enough to actually get it done. Looking forward to following your build!

So happy you guys are so close and doing it right in the city!! We're out in New Jersey but plan on spending some time in Brooklyn once we're up and rolling.

Have you guys had any issues doing the work on the street/parking lots? At the moment we're converting in the parking lot next door without any issues but I'm just waiting for that to change.

Hey NY Chef!
My boyfriend and I are currently working on it up at my aunt and uncles house in the Hudson Valley, so not sure where you could do it in NYC.... Would be great to meet up at some point though! Maybe we can get a group of the NYC Skoolie owners/fans together for a drink.
