Hello from Kansas City

Hi everyone! I've been stalking these forums for a little bit while doing tons of researching into skoolies. My lease is up sometime around March 2019 and I'm really wanting to find a small to mid-sized bus, shuttle bus, or even a 170" sprinter van for myself and two small dogs. I would love to build one, but I have no place to do that (apartment won't even allow you to do an oil change in their lot), absolutely zero experience, and I need to figure out a loan. While building would be ideal, I realize it may not be in the cards for me yet, so I have been looking for something that meets my needs.

If you know of anything in the small to mid-sized range, well insulated, set up to be fully off-grid (composting toilet, solar power, no black water tanks, fully self-contained) I would appreciate a point in that direction. This will be a full-time home for me and I would be working from home much of the time, (and won't have much access to hookups, hence the need for off-grid).

Thanks and nice to meet everyone!

hi, how to find...

So I dont think it is likely you find what you want by auction, These days the classifieds in the news paper is called Craigslist. here is what I do to find what I am looking for.

go to craigslist CL for short. pull up the state from the menu on the right. select the town/area at the top, then on the upper right side there is a space to search , type in "bus". there will usually be, not always, usually say some thing like "21 bus in 'for sale'" click on that, search the list,

repeat for the next town/ area until you have done the whole state/province.
Time consuming but you will find what you are looking for, then it depends on how far away and cost and is it good enough for you.

welcome, william topeka kansas

Thanks William! I've actually been using this site to search all of Craigslist at once. I type in 'bus' and set the search criteria to search any distance from my zip code. It has returned tons of items so far, just nothing that meets my needs just yet. Thankfully I have about 6 months to find something that works for me.

Keep an eye on the classified section here on Skoolie.

We see members post buses for sale in various levels of completion.

Good luck.
