Hello from Ohio!

Hey everyone! Been lurking around here for some time. I even almost pulled the trigger on a nice 2000 Ford E450 7.3L short bus earlier this year.

Story time...

So I had been looking into doing van or bus life for awhile. My big dreams were to travel out west and live in one of those vehicles while I worked as a travel nurse. I flew down to VA this January to do a buy and drive deal. I had cash in hand on this low miles 7.3L. Heard her running, looked at the rust free frame/body and I was sold. Until I walked inside...I just couldn't see it. I couldn't pull the trigger and see myself living in that for some reason. So I flew both myself and my buddy that went with me back to Ohio. (had quite the drink tab to drown sorrows.) Not sure why but I just couldn't do it.

So what did I do next? I bought a truck. But not just any truck. I bought Ruby; a 2014 F350 SRW Lariat 6.7L Powerstroke. My new, more expensive plan was to then buy a fifth wheel toyhauler and travel out west.

Fast forward six months...I now have a a YUGE truck payment, am in the hole a lot of money and realizing I made a mistake. To get a 5th wheel toy hauler that would put me at least $30k more in the hole. So I'm back to the skoolie idea. I hate being in debt more than I thought I would. I'll be posting soon to get some ideas to see if my new plans are even plausible.

Nice to "meet" everyone!

Live and learn I guess at what cost?

You have some nice new shiny luxury though but debt is not all it is cracked up to be from my experience. Avoid it like the plague.
Reading here will allow you to see some pretty nice conversions in the making and maybe show you how comfortable and liveable these can be.
Good luck but sell your toys and go bus hunting.
