hello from virigina

hello out there, i'm thinking about buying a bus to redue into a skoolie and I have a few worries, What is to many miles on an engine that you should just walk away and keep looking, and what drive train are the best to also look for.

Welcome. We are from VA also and are just getting started on our Skoolie conversion. For most school buses, I'm hearing that 300k miles is about the life expectancy. Some argue for 500k, but I guess it depends. Where in VA are you?

300k miles is about the half-life of the better engines in severe duty (school bus) use. Generally it will equate to roughly 15k hours on the meter.

However, some of them can be "in-framed", that is they can be fully reconditioned for the price of the parts if you can do the work yourself.
