Help Please (Cant decide on bus)

Hello all,

I live in central Florida (winter haven). I want a bus to take short trips visiting family down in Miami and near Gainesville. Total passengers would be my wife, baby son, and I.

So I been looking for a short bus for some time. I wanted something cheap since it is my first time. I've been mostly looking at buses on govdeal and surplus-auction.

I won an online auction, but I am unsure about the price and condition of the bus. All info I have is from the website. I would have to fly over to NJ and drive the bus down to Florida.

Here is the link:
https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?f...36&acctid=3147

Please flee free to give me your opinion and suggestions.
Thank you,
Raul

My opinion is that if someone lists it as a GMC and it is clearly a Ford, run don't walk...away!

jersey isn't known for being too kind to buses.
Youre in FL. How big a bus you want? I know of a few leads on good deals.

The problem is, you've already bid on it and won. Kinda late to back out now.

The 7.3 engine is a good one. Not much in the way of mileage. Not seeing any major rust in the photos. Appears to have A/C (A big plus in FL). At this point I'd go through with the sale and not feel bad about it. The Ford 7.3 is easily serviced at most big box parts stores.

Hello,
sorry I took so long to reply but i was waiting to have my account unlocked.

The school selling the bus had 4 buses being sold. 3 of them were GMC/ bluebird and 1 ford/ Collins. I believe the person listing it just missed or was careless.
Either way, it is a big loophole for me.

Quote from the bill of sale.
Description Warranty. Seller warrants to the Buyer that the property offered for sale will conform to its description. Any claim for misdescription must be made prior to removal of the property. If Seller confirms that the property does not conform to the description, Seller will keep the property and refund any money paid. The liability of the seller shall not exceed the actual purchase price of the property.

says the auction win was for $2200 that doesnt seem too bad for the OP.. id say fly up make an adventure and drive it home... most likely the A/C is busted but thats not a bad fix.. and it might work, but the ones used in alot of those cutaways were known to leak and the Ford FS-10 comporessor was a PITA..

looks like a pretty decent bus!

Dam $2300.? you got me jelly i had to pay $4500 for mine, i would pay $4500 all day but i definetly could have used that extra few k. but when i think about it im gettin a custom made diesel motorhome for 1/3 the price of a manufactured rv. & mine had 175k miles. i guess that is just calis over inflated prices tho o'well.

Well this bus is in NJ. So possible rust problems.
But I got a "get out of jail card" if that is the case (wrong maker/model on vehicle description).

I'm okay with dropping money on the bus but will keep the build cheap. I plan on making it a minimal camper build.
I'll fix the bus' front and rear AC and whatever else comes up.

the A/C is pretty simple on those.. usually just a good cleaning of the coils all over inside and out, some new O-rings, evacuate and charge and be nice N cold... ive repaired a bunch of them over the years.. occasionally had to replace the ford compressor because they love to drop a vaslve plate and only pump on half the stroke...
