Here for the Hauling

Hi, My name is Keith, I am a USMC Vet and I am trying to plan my escape from the freezing north In a motorhome

What brought me here is the fact Class C motorhomes simply dont have the towing capacity i need. I have a car, A motorcycle, and plan to get another motorcycle before i leave. other heavy stuff i have is about 4000 rounds of ammo, and a decent amount of tools. I have a payload of about 4500-5000 lbs.

So that takes me to a Bus. A Sub 30ft or roughly 40 passenger class D school bus fits the bill perfectly. many have rear wheelchair lift, that i could easily convert into a motorcycle lift (mine are sub 400lbs) and the rear section into a "mini garage" and use the front space for the living quarters. i have a rough floor plan in mind but wont get too into it until i have a bus.

Thanks for having me
Keith

Those 4000 rounds are going to be awfully heavy, but since you're now one of the Skoolie gang you can drop them off at my place.

actually i realized that is an underestimate.

4,000 5.45 x 39
1,700 7.62 x 54r
2,000 7.62 x 39

so 7,700 is the actual count... when your ammo is still in the crate you kinda forget you have it...lol

Far right, is that a M38 or M44?

chinese T53. its a sewer pipe but she shoots straight and the action is smooth

the Hex is a Finish Sky M39. they are essentially M91's but built way better by the fins using the hex M91 receiver.

I used to be a gun snob and laugh when my friend bought Russian SKS and other east bloc stuff, They were sooo cheap. I had to have HK and other ridiculously priced nonsense. I remember Shotgun News with Russian SKS for 69.95 and buy two for 64.95 each. Those days are gone.

definitely. **** started to get really expensive as soon as i got into the hobby

all the AK's i have are Parts kits, and many are hybrids requiring a bit of machining to get everything to fit right. that one in the cabinet is what i am calling a galak, since its mostly a galil but built on a Yugo reciever arrangement.

here's another franken ak i have in the works. its a bulgarian Ak74 kit but im using an EXTREMELY hard to find Chinese sidefolder stock

One day when I grow up(yeah sure), I would like to have my own machine shop in my garage. It's amazing how cheap surplus equipment is when it comes up for auction. Mills, lathes, welders. I'm waiting to see if my bid that didn't meet reserve will be accepted. It's for a $20k plasma cutter. It will slice through 2" of steel easy peasy.

I have one of each and that pretty much sums them up.

Are you going to make a receiver from a flat or just buy one?

First, Thank you for your service to our great country.
Second, I would not post round counts, people these days get scared at the drop of a hat and you don't need the aggravation, I am sure.
Third, That is my idea exactly. But I have a Honda gold wing and want to use a lift of some sort to lift the wing into the back of a LARGE 40" RE which would be my garage and tiny shop with living quaters in the front 3/4 of the bus. Right now it is just a dream and plan in my very active mind but hey, ya gotta dream.
Fourth, I don't know why I am counting. I will stop.
Oh btw, my name is Keith also. Not to many of us around!

thank you for the appreciation.

most lifts are rated at 700lbs it seams. if it was me, i would just buy an old rear lift used on commercial trucks and mount it to the rear. that way you wont have to worry about lift failure since those style lifts can pick up 2000lbs+.

and yeah, not too many keith's around. it makes it fun when you bump into another.

i got that nickname while i was in the corps, but i was more often called Towney-bob. it actually followed me around. i would go to a different duty station and people would just start using it for whatever reason.
