My friend Laura and myself (Courtney) are about to start a gofundme campaign so that we may have a Skoolie of our own. As you may have noticed by my name of TinyBipolarBus that is going to be the name of our Skoolie because her and I are both disabled due to our various mental health ailments, the main ones being Bipolar & PTSD. We decided to do a skoolie because apartments are expensive and with my lack of income (still trying to win my disability case) and her minimal income less than $800 a month there is no way we could really afford an apartment in our area. For many people like us we will never have a home of our own, and many of us wind up homeless (I was at one point) or in section 8 housing which is not much better than being homeless. Doing this made the most sense for both of us.
I will also be going to school for Organic Gardening in the fall here at Delaware Valley Institute in Bucks County PA, and having a skoolie will allow me to attend school. We don't have a truck to haul a tiny house on a trailer, plus we love the idea of an old bus as our house. The other reason we are doing this is because we plan on moving to Georgia as soon as I am done school and with the TinyBipolarBus we will not have to worry about finding a house right away.
I came to this site because I want to learn all that I can learn before we take on this new adventure. I want to connect with members of the community, I want to get advice, share stories, and all that fun stuff. I love knowledge and I love challenges and this is a bit of both. Can't wait to start meeting, talking to, and swapping tips and trick with y'all!
