Hi from SF. Need Int. Height Info on 22 Passenger

Hi, new to this forum and I'm going to be doing a conversion soon.

I don't think I want full size bus as I would have no where to store it. So I'm looking at a 2002 Ford E450 School Bus.

Does anyone know what the interior height is? Can a 6' person stand up in it. I can't attach a picture so here's a link to kind of what I'm looking for. I don't want to have to stoop to be in it as I'll be cooking and playing in there.

Most buses have a 6'3" roof at the dead center. I'm short at 5'4" and they make me feel a little claustrophobic. I raised my roof 16".

Hmmm interesting. How hard was it to raise the roof? Pics or a thread?

That bus is in PA. You better make sure it doesn't have rust or you will be hating life. I bought a bus in NY and it was a nightmare. You better get the exact height from the seller because it will be close. That does have a tall roof.

Thanks for all the help. That link was just, that, an example.

But the good news is I just got the one I really wanted from an auction!! BOOYAA!!

https://barnoneauction.hibid.com/lot...f=current-bids

Here's the one. Plus it's a big longer and I think because the roof is not as domed it's gonna be a bit taller, at least at the edges. Now I gotta figure out how to get there to get it home.

A couple of questions off the top of my head, I'm sure there are threads so I'll look later. But for now what do people think of Good Sam road side assistance. I'll be bringing this to Burning Man and want to be protected in case I break down.

Also any threads on putting a deck on the roof to hang out on? Is that advisable. As a side note I'm a lifelong metal worker and have my own machine shop so fabrication is not a problem. I was thinking of building wood ribs to fit the contour of the top, epoxy and screw them down, weather proof them then put decking material on and some collapsible railing.

Keep it light. Aluminum square tube & light aluminum diamond plate. Just be sure to insulate where steel and the aluminum mate

Cool. Thanks.

I think I'll do a fold out deck so it'll overhand one side by the width of the bus for a bigger space and shelter and a cooking area down below.

So I'm moving right along. Got Commercial Insurance, or I will. Got a solid quote for exactly what I have from Progressive $244 for 6 month. Liability only. Got Good Sam Road Side Assistance for $84 for a year. Unlimited Towing Distance. I probably should start a new thread for my build.
