It takes a big man to admit when you are wrong. Most would have used editing to skip the tribulations component, but it adds to the flow to follow your thought process.
I'd cover that wire rope with old garden hose scraps so it is less chaffey. Sucker is also gonna want to swing fore and aft once Newton gets on board.
Hardware looks sufficiently robust, but mounting angle of eyebolt combined with choice of attachment point is concerning. I like to use the frame for anything heavy I don't want to see in my rear-view mirror.

Maybe if I keep some extra barrels on hand I can replace them as they fall off.
Glad you mentioned that eye bolt angle .... I imagine it could tork the struts.
Hmmmmm ... plan C in the works
Thanks man!

Black Tank Installation
Yes, I decided to reuse the old, skanky, encrusted black tank that was originally on the prison bus ... I just couldn't bear to see it "go to waste."

Totally dig your bus shirt !!
I never knew why they call it a "black tank" until the last few seconds of the video.
Is it me, or does this late-season warm weather lull you into a false sense of temperate climate?
"Weather Service forecasts third straight mild winter for much of U.S." woot !

Spence-
You know that magnet trick you like to pick-up metal filings? I meant to tell you about an upgrade:
I drop the magnet in a plastic baggie first, pick up the filings, flip the bag inside-out to contain.

oh man, that's gonna be a big improvement ... as just using the magnet means you're pulling filings off with your gloves ... and they're never fully removed.

My best idea is a plastic bag. At least I have something to put on my tombstone.

Pulling and Resealing Bus Windows
I pulled the windows on the prison bus this week, then called in some extra help to get them all sealed up and reinstalled.

Oh, I didn't realized you were one of the Spencer Septuplet Boys. I remember seeing your act at the Circus as a boy.
You better get that Crew moving, it's getting cold out.

Septuplets?
As long as I keep 'em fed, they keep working.

When installing tubs and showers in the past, I've always fully roughed in the surround, then installed the tub or shower. With my prison bus, however, I roughed in the framing for the shower ... while working to get the shower pan in place. This was a bit odd and out of order, to my mind, but I wanted to get that drain line dialed in exactly.
So I've put a new video up on YouTube. Thanks to all who persevered through my Halloween video.

It is oddly satisfying to watch you do the framing. It's all so square. It's fun to watch people in their element. It's really taking shape once you get those walls up. I can't wait ! I still have no walls.
I just noticed- you have no insulation and all windows. What is the plan?

I'm crazy about windows and always want more in a space -- so the only ones I'll be covering will be those behind things ... like behind the shower and cabinets.
I guess I should have insulated behind that shower, so will have to stuff some fiberglas stuff back there.
Loving the framing ...

Power Cabinet in the Prison Bus
Found some time today to do a bit of cabinet work -- so I'm now waiting for glue to dry on my power-box cabinet. Like my weight-clamps? I decided to do the cabinets in a counter-clockwise order, so the sink-surround is next up.

Gone are the Cages and Chains ...
Now it's things like cabinets and ribbing in the bus. So here's my latest video on the reno-fantasm that is my prison bus. I'm working my way around the bus rouging in cabinets, so next up is the array of things in and around the prison bus kitchen.

Cabinets + Floor Plan
In this video, some work on the kitchen area and talk of a floor plan. I'm not a huge planner, but I have a vague sense of what this bus might end up looking like.

Used Black Water Tank: A Quest
So, my wife and I will be driving out to New York in a few weeks, and I happen to spy that there are quite a few used RV black water tanks for sale on eBay.
One of these fine if fecally festooning black tanks happens to be in Ohio, which will be on our way. So I say to her something like "Darling, sweetie, honey-bun? Would you be opposed to us going slightly out of our way on the trip to New York? See, the deal is that I'm thinking of picking up a tank in Ohio."
But she's on to me and within a few minutes the cat is out of the bag, so to speak, and it's clear that this tank would be a used black tank that I want to strap to the Subaru, drive to New York with, and then drive back to Illinois where my bus sits tankless. (This would actually be for my gray water tank, which I've been futzing with for weeks and am just not happy with.)
Her final response: "I'm hygienically opposed to the idea. If you can wrap it in a sealed hazmat wrap, go for it. But if it's going to ooze and drip excrement all over the car the minute it starts raining, no way."
So time for plan B.
