new bus going retro!

We just got our bus and took the seats out today. As we walked around in the empty space, 1950s retro designs kept coming to mind. We plan on keeping two of the seats and making a diner type table with a checkerboard floor and some simple painted cupboards with chrome hardward....that is as far as we have gotten.

Our 'little' 77 passenger bus will be going places and staying in place. It is going to join the yurt, treehouse, hobbit hole and cabin as a place for the kids and grandkids to stay in when they come to visit our little sheep ranch. It will be on a little gravel pad when it is not on the road that will be complete with a picnic table and firepit.

We are still in the planning stages, so welcome any ideas. We joined the forum just to get some!

Great to be here.

Welcome Mike and Rose
You'll get more than a few opinions here. We've got some similarities between our buses.

Welcome aboard, it's nice having you here. Congratulations on getting your bus. Retro sounds like a neat idea. I can't wait to see it. Oh yeah, we love pictures. I know you'll have lots of questions so please don't hesitate asking them. The people here will be glad to help. This is absolutely the best place on the internet. I love it here and I know you will too. Now let the work begin.

Love the dinette area. . im actually going to do the same in mine.. somehow I thought bus seats looked like old sachool booths.. since mine had a wheelchair lift on it, it has a section of floor carved out where I want those seats and table to go.. chevkerboard is what came to mind as I can use the garage flooring material in that pattern which is nice and durable.. while im not doing a whole conversion.. I like that we think alike on the dinette.. difference will be my table that will be height adjustable so I can make it the platform along with the seats for a couple sleeping bags for those times when to stop for that 1 or 2 hour nap along the road.

I can imagine your bus already with a pink tyle shower wit ha row of black tiles at the top!

The work has begun!

We chose some retro colors that we thought would also keep the school bus flavor: brown, tan, light green and bright red (kind of coca cola colors). The painting is just about done and we have the tiles for a checker board floor in the kitchen. It seems to go slowly but we are doing it without getting into debt.
...I am trying to upload some pics, but need to figure this out!
