Without seeing, I'm betting its an AIC (aux. idle control). It was an option mainly used to adjust the idle for quicker warm up-or to run a pto. Best thing about it is its also a digital tach. Mine is mounted in the passenger side kick panel so it must have a fairly long harness. I've seen pics of them mounted on the doghouse or dash.
If you decide you don't want it, sell it on a diesel forum-they go for a couple hundred.

yep that looks like what I have, guess I should plug it in and see if it works.


so what do the buttons do?

OP - I was able to request a wiring diagram through Champion's email, tracing wires was fine, but the diagram was good insurance. 2 of the 4 relays in the fuse box above the driver are the Parking Interlock for the lift/lights. This can all be removed fairly easily, I left the rear AC and heater circuits intact because both of mine are still functional!
