Hey all! Ive been lurking for a while....thank you for all the great info. I am a nurse traveling for work with my dog and 2 cats.

Im in a pinch and need something I can sleep in a couple nights a week in Maine. The only thing I can come close to affording is a 2005 chevy 4 window gas with 120,000 on it. Not my first choice, wanted diesel, but just don't have the $$$.

120K on a domestic gas engine is a lot. I'd factor into your decision-making process the very likely possibility of needing to rebuild or replace the engine in the near future. Depending on your abilities and resources, that could be anything from a minor inconvenience to an absolute show-stopper.

I think that some of the popular gas truck motors like the Chevy 6.0 run 350k miles before I retirement. The gents down at the bus barn love the 6.0

Yup. Got one in my 02 2500hd. 290k runs great.

Awesome! Thats what I like to hear. He says it needs one wheel bearing and one tire?? Not sure how that happens.

Problem is, its wholesale so I pretty much have to take it, bring it to a mechanic and pray!

I stand corrected. 350K miles. Wow. Sounds like a heck of an engine.

Tire is easy enough. Wheel bearing isn't hard nor expensive but on a full size bus you'll need some fair size tools to work on it. Front or rear bearing?

Sadly, I a incapable of working on the bus. But I have the part an an appointment !
