New skoolie owner
Hello,
Im new to forums of any kind, I figured here would be the best place to start. Im in South central KY and was hoping to connect with people from my area. My bus is an older one. Shes a 1970s chevy bus and in need a bit of work. I've had her a while and I'm really hoping to have her up and road ready before fall. Im really needing some tires and some info on converting the outside light to LEDS.
I hope I'm not being to forward.
If anyone knows or can give me some leads that would be a life saver.
I look forward to talking to people on here and learning the most I can about my bus. 😃

Cool bus. Looks like a P30 chassis. Shouldn't be hard at all to find parts. Good luck and post pictures!

Welcome to the site! Get the thing roadworthy first. Tires should no be hard to find. I replaced a few of my exterior lamps with LED lamps. You can see how at about 4:45 in the video below......

Assuming it runs and drives, at least in your yard?
If it's sat idle for awhile, changing the fluids should be the first thing you do or have done to it.
Then maybe focus on your lights. Most replacement bulbs are available in LED nowadays so it shouldn't be too hard to freshen up those too.
Amazon or other sites should have what you need.

If you change the turn signals to led you will need to change the flasher too, as the regular flasher often will not flash with led lights. I changed only the rear ones to led and kept the front as is, and this way the common flasher still works.

Howdy fellow hippie! Welcome to the insane asylum.
While a pending bus mod, when I upgraded the flashers in my Bug, I had to also splice resistors in near the sockets, otherwise the signals would hyper-flash, like when one bulb in a circuit is blown.
There is a hyoooo-oge difference in the respective resistances between incandescent & LED bulbs.
Scored mine from SuperBright LEDs, btw...

that little dude is a Carpenter Cadet!! the P30 CHASSIS is essentially a step-van... pretty easy to work on and common parts... wont ride the smoothest... you'll be a tad hot in the summer unless you put in good dashboard air-con.. and they dont take real kindly to adding a ton of weight.. . that said these are still on of my favorite styles of little busses..
