New to BUS LIFE!

Hey all! Just bought my first Bus and I'm excited about its potential. I live in Daytona beach FL, and the bus is a 1987 IH shorty with 179k. I haven't been able to figure out what type of motor it has in it. I know its a (automatic) diesel v8 so I think its either a 6.9 or 7.3! I learned (from this site) that 87 was the year that they stopped using the 6.9 and started using the 7.3's, so it sounds like it could be either. Also not sure what type or kind of transmission is in the bus either. I believe that its a 7.3 only because someone had wrote "14 quarts" on the air cleaner cover. the oil capacity for a 7.3 is 15, or a 6.9 its 10. so assuming that that's what it is in reference to, I would have to believe that this is a 7.3? but I would like to know for sure.

I would consider myself mechanically inclined but i've never owned a bus before. Are there some basic tune up things I should look into that are specific to a bus or just large diesel motor? The motor and bus are both in pretty good shape. There isn't anything that needs immediate attention.

I tried to attach some pictures but the server keeps timing out.

I've had a few small meetups, but have been wanting to have a nice gathering of folks here sometime.

I figured out how to tell 6.9 from 7.3 if anyone is interested. The 6.9 has 7/16 in. head bolts. The 7.3 has 1/2 in. head bolts! That is the easiest way I could tell the two apart.
