Newbie>>>Looking for people w/ Ford THOMAS buses

Hello everyone!

My name is Dane. I am new to the forum and a proud new owner of a 1989 Ford Thomas school bus.

Looking for other members who may own/converted the same bus so that I may get some ideas and tips on how to do my own conversion.

One of my main concerns is how to address the floor considering the ultra low ceiling height, w/o going to the extremes of raising the roof.

Any tips and ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

I stripped the floor to bare metal and I only have 6 ft. 1/2 in.!!! I guess I should have considered this before buying my bus, but the universe pretty much handed me this thing LOL. Thankfully I am only 5' 10" with shoes on so I guess I will manage!

Welcome.

Your bus was likely built on a Ford B700 chassis. If it is, I have the same chassis.

You can always take a angle grinder with a flap wheel to the top of your scull to remove a few inches. lol

A roof raise is worth it, not to hard, and not to costly if done smart.

How would you like to be able to see out the window standing up?

How about not having to deal with that awful curved ceiling?

With a roof raise, you can install your door anywhere you want, and use a real house door.

Skoolie windows suck in every way. No screens, they transmit cold and heat, never seal, ect. A roof raise enables you to use real house windows.

The list go's on and on.

If your going to live in it, a roof raise is a must.
