Newbie.... South Carolina

Just got me a 2004 GMC 3500 28 passenger school bus. Let the adventure begin. Any info on a good layout would be appreciated.

Or just any good advice.... I’ll take it.

Congratulations. Is that a cutaway?

7 windows?

Good advice: see if you can get insurance that covers it during conversion. So get insurance before you cut. IDK about SC, but in CA National General AKA Good Sam Insurance gave me a state minimum policy to cover during conversion for a pretty cheap rate.

How do you plan to use your bus?

What do you think you want in it?

I guess after a few more posts you’ll be able to post a pic.

I have a 5 window cutaway Thomas that’s just starting it’s transformation. I think I know what I want, but the longer I spend on this site the more ideas I get.

Yeah I thought I knew what I wanted but it keeps changing. I will use it to take trips camping and Boondocking one day when I can do solar. Don’t know how to post a picture but it is gutted.

You will be able to post pics after 5 posts.

I have a 96 International 7 window bus that is used for recreational use at the moment and will eventually be my full time home. I might have a little more room than your bus, but it might give you an idea......

Interesting... The 3500s, by nature of design, as they are based on the front third of a passenger van, are, in fact, cutaways. The 4500s are as well, the only real difference is they have a wider track for greater stability (conventional ambulances are built on 4500s). 5500-6500s, being the 2+ ton chassis, would not be a cutaway. Perhaps you could double-check and clarify just what beast you have? Pics would be greatly helpful. C'mon... one more post, and YOOO CAN DOO-EET! This all helps us here in giving advice on a great many things... ;)
