Hey there all you cool Skool kids! I’m new to Skoolie, learned about them about a month ago when considering purchasing a used rv, quickly had a change of heart and have been considering a Skoolie since. The catch is I don’t have the time to do a conversion myself, so I’m looking into buying an already converted Skoolie! I’m located in NY but willing to travel for the right bus, my main concern is avoiding common newbie pitfalls regarding engine and transmission types. My price range goes up to about 15K, I was hopping to find someone here with experience who could help guide my purchasing journey. Happy to compensate for time as spending $100 a so to save 1,000s seems like a deal to me! So how about it?

I doubt $15k will get you a very nice Skoolie. Of course everyones definition of very nice differs.

There’s a converted Skoolie selling in the Syracuse NY area right now for $15K. I think it belongs to WareWolff. I was just looking at it a little while ago. Give it a look see, could be EXACTLY what you want.

I would never buy a conversion that has not had the ceiling removed and insulation added, most of those buses skipped that step. The Bluebird , you ironically posted twice is the best of the lot, price is probably reasonable. The SafetiLiner is my second choice.
While interesting, the double decker is not something I would go anywhere near.

The BlueBirds odometer is broken so no telling how many miles, is this something I should be overly concerned with? Also what was your impression of Warewolfs bus? Thanks so much for the help!

It’s common for the mileage of busses to be inaccurate in their odometers. Usually it’s swapped in from another unit when the original has failed. Best to look at overall condition and engine condition more than just mileage alone.
I thought it was a well done conversion. I’ve not seen it in person, but from what I understand WareWolff has put forth a metric shitton of work into it and it shows.

Thanks for the tips! What are your thoughts on warewolfs bus? Also I found this beauty while doing further searching, what are your thoughts? They said it has insulated floors and ceilings "rigid foam board under the subfloor and basic fiberglass insulation in the ceiling" they said they replaced any bad insulation in the ceiling as well. Reportedly rust free except small surface rust (bus from the south) which was there when they purchased but has been covered with rustoleum since.

Really don't know much about Warewolfs bus. Personally I would look closer at the build before spending any money.

Here's the link to his forum add with a bunch of details on the work and appliances so far, seems like people were saying it's a fair deal for the bus type and all the electrical work that's gone into it (there's a whole lot of solar on that roof! This is what he said about the insulation "I peeled back the skin and the original fiberglass insulation was still pearly white, so I left it and added 2" foamular on the walls and floor. The roof is still original fiberglass. There are 2 x Tristar MPPT60's so yes, solar could be expanded easily. I doubt you'll need it though." Planning on going to check it out later today if you give the all clear on the build/price tag! Thanks for all the help Marc, resting easier knowing I've got sound advice through this nerve wracking purchasing process! 15K is a lot of cheddar but I'm so excited to join the Skoolie community!
