North Central Idaho newbie schoolie!

Hey y'all, Glad to find a place like this, we have so many questions, and we know they will probably all be answered by y'all on here!

So we bought a 1996 International 57pass school bus with a DT466 engine and an Allison automatic tranny about 2 weeks ago. We have pulled the seats out, the rubber and plywood floor up and now are working on grinding all the surface rust off, then are going to paint with industrial rust converter paint.

I know most of y'all are way ahead of us, so I can't wait to soak in all your knowledge!!! Thanks in advance!

I grew up hiking/skiing those mountains! Parents still live right near the Chesapeake Bay. Moscow is about 2hr west/north of me. We moved here because the mountains remind me of "back home", just they're taller here!

I work in Boise in the summer!

Hi!

Where did you get your bus, if you don't mind me asking? I'm currently in Kansas, but work out of Boise as a wildland firefighter in the summer! I was planning to rent this summer, but if I could find a good bus in Idaho I might try this sooner!

Rachel, We bought our bus from Western Mountain Bus Sales in Nampa, just outside of Boise. When we bought our bus they had 6-7 others for sale in various sizes and prices. Some for less than what we paid, some for more. We got our bus for $2600 out the door, and immediately drove it 250 miles home with not a single hiccup. They are great people, and if you call them, talk to Cliff. He's a great guy, and goes out of his way to help you. Here's their web site..... westernmountain.com and their number is 208-467-3047.

Thanks so much for the info! That is a much better price than I've seen on Craigslist so far!

Ya the smoke was thick this year, but not nearly as bad as last year, we actually had fire about 2 miles from our homestead and the wind was blowing towards us. We had stage 2 evac orders (have everything ready to leave within seconds). The year before that we had a fire about 5 miles from us down on the Selway River, but that's as close as it got.

We will definitely not miss that when we get on the road.... no fires on the beaches of Oregon and Washington!!!!
