I'm American by birth (born in the U.S. with American Mom and English Dad) but have lived in the UK most of my life.
Unfortunately we lost my mom a few years ago and with her the 'bridge' that linked us to our Aunties and cousins.
I'm in the fortunate position that I can take time off so have decided to spend a year travelling across America with my two boys visiting as many members of the family as possible, making new connections and rebuilding old ones and seeing as many of the sights as we can.
We have a caravan over here - not sure what you call it in USA - a travel trailer? It's 26 ft and me and the boys live in it for weeks at a time in the holidays. We have solar/electricity connectors for lights etc and gas for cooking and heating so we are used to cramped conditions & multipurpose furniture etc. we love it but will need a bit more space to live full time in something for a year!
I've looked at different living options and feel like the best option would be a Skoolie. I'll be travelling and living in it with two kids and will probably have friends travelling with me at times as well. RVs look too flimsy and cramped and I think I'll get a warmer welcome if I visit with my own accommodation rather than expecting to be housed!
I'll won't be arriving till August 2016 and will stay till September 2017.
I was thinking of doing the conversion myself but think it will take too long so if anyone thinks they will have anything available next summer then let me know. Until then I will keep reading the gold mine of information that is in this forum!

My better half grew up in Glasgow Scotland. Her dad is American but she grew up there. We are planning to travel once our bus is done.
Welcome aboard... Bring us some Buckfast when you come over!
